UPDATE 8:21am 6/27: People who work with Drew Mcgilvra, the man who was crushed to death by a trash coompactor at Dick's Hamburgers in downtown Spokane, told KREM 2 NEWS that they have seen him use his leg to push trash into that compactor on previous occasions. They suspect that's what he was doing when something went wrong.
KREM 2 also learned there is a specific 5 minute window when it happened between when he was last seen alive and when an associate found his body.
Update, 6pm Monday: The Washington Dept. of Labor and Industries calls the death of a 36-year-old man inside a trash compactor in Downtown Spokane an accident. Drew McGilvra was found outside Dick's Hamburgers around 5:30 Monday morning.
The compactor is six feet tall and comes with numerous safety systems. Police say they still don't know whether this was an accident or if McGilvra committed suicide. However, detectives tell us there are no signs of foul play.
SPOKANE -- Spokane Police are investigating a body found inside a trash compactor at Dick's Hamburgers.
REPORT: Authorities try to figure out if man was crushed to death The body is 36 year old Drew McGilvra, an employee of Dick's. The body was found by another employee working early Monday morning.
Police are trying to find out how and why McGilvra died
